Here are the Top Best Universities in Sri Lanka in 2022 according to the most popular World University Ranking Lists: Webometrics, QS, and THE Higher Education World Ranking.
The most popular ranking system in Sri Lanka is Webometrics ranking as it lists all universities with a visible website. They give their ranking based on web impact and research impact (based on Google Sholar data and Scopus research publication data)

QS has only ranked only following six Universities in Sri Lanka: Peradeniya, Colombo, Jaffna, Moratuwa, Sri Jayewardenepura and Kelaniya.

THE Times Higher Education World Univesity Ranking 2023 was released today (12 October 2023). Six Sri Lankan Universities have been included in this ranking. University of Peradeniya and Colombo are the best Universities in Sri Lanka with four other Universities being given “Reporter” status.

THE ranking team has introduced this ranking based on the Sustainable Development Goals (STGs) of the United Nations.
Six Universities in Sri Lanka got this ranking: Peradeniya, Colombo, Kelaniya, KDU, Sri Jayewardneprua, and SLIIT were ranked in this system.
