QS is an Internationally accepted one of the serious University ranking system. QS has only selected four Sri Lankan universities in their 2019 ranking: Peradeniya, Colombo, Moratuwa and University of Sri Jayewardnepura.

Most popular Web Ranking system in Sri Lanka is webometriecs ranking, however QS ranking is regarded as much better ranking system as it consider criteria such as Academic reputation, Employer reputation, Research citations per paper and H-index etc. According to Alexa data, QS ranking is the world’s most-viewed global university ranking system.
In 2015 University of Colombo was the first ranked Sri Lankan University by QS Ranking. Later they included Peradeniya and Moratuwa. In this year (2019) they also included University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
New edition for 2020 QS Asian ranking will be released in November this year. Very soon all Sri Lankan universities will compete for QS Asian ranking rather than for web based webometrics ranking.
