Starting from the 2022/2023 University academic year, the Nuclear Science Department of the University of Colombo offers this new B.Sc. Honours degree program in Medical Imaging Technology. Those who have obtained the minimum qualification to apply based on their A/L biological science stream results (starting from 2022 A/L) can apply for this four-year degree program offered by the Faculty of Science, University of Colombo.
This will train you to become medical imaging professionals (MIP), also known as radiographers.
MIPs are very important in healthcare. They help doctors see inside your body to find out what’s wrong. They use things like X-rays, CT scans, MRI scans, and other cool tools to do this.
According to the official website “The Medical Imaging Technology Honours Degree program is designed to provide students with the necessary skills and knowledge to work as MIPs in hospitals. Students will learn about critical aspects of radiography, including patient handling, instrument operation, image creation, image analysis, and report generation. These essential skills are fundamental for delivering accurate diagnoses and maintaining patient safety. The curriculum also includes clinical training in hospitals, ensuring that students gain hands-on experience in real healthcare settings, as well as strong research components, allowing students to explore and contribute to the evolving field of medical imaging.”
