At present FM Abhaya is the most widely used Sinhala Font in desktop publishing industry in Sri Lanka. Most Newspapers and books use this as the main font for the body text. This font was named using the name “King Abhaya”, who ruled from 474 BC to 454 BC.
‘Abhya Libare’ is an opensource, copyright free version of widely used Sinhala font, FM Abhaya.
This font has been developed by Mooniak with the Sponsorship of Google and original FM Abhaya script Designer Pushpananda Ekanayake.
According to developers, in the Unicode adaptation process, the original FM font was re-drawn for web interface, and five bright five font designs has been created.
