A Chartered Engineer is an engineer who has become professionally registered with the Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka (IESL). After registration you’ll be able to use the initials ‘C. Eng.’ after your name, which signifies that you have met the necessary competence and commitment standard
In Sri Lanka, only the Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka (IESL) can award Chartered Engineer (C.Eng.) status. It is awarded to the Corporate Members of IESL: Members with MIE (Sri Lanka) and Fellows with FIE (Sri Lanka). Chartered Engineers enjoy recognition by government, business and the general public.
Those who have a BSc. Engineering Degrees from an B.Eng degree accredited by IESL and adequate training and experience are eligible to become Chartered Engineer in Sri Lanka.
B.Eng degrees offered by state universities and some private Universities have been accredited by IESL as suitable to award Chartered Engineer status.
