Now you can use Turn-by-turn voice navigation using Google Maps app in Android or iPhone mobile phones or tablets in Sri Lanka. Voice navigation helps you get to places easily when you drive, walk, or bike. You’ll hear traffic conditions, where to turn, which lane to use, and if there’s a better route. If you get off track, Maps will automatically find a new route for you.
1. Type in the destination you want.
2. Now long press the “Transportation Icon”. You can find this icon on the bottom right of the app interface. This icon is normally of car, bicycle etc.
Note: You can also enable voice navigation in Google Maps my tapping the Navigation icon. In order to turn off the voice navigation, just tap the cross button and it will be turned off.
3. Choose the route you want to take if shown different routes and press “Start”.
4. Google Maps voice navigation will be turned on.
1. Launch Google Maps in your iPhone.
2. Type in the destination, if it shows up, tap it, otherwise, use the search option.
3. Now tap the Car icon (navigation icon) from the bottom right corner just like in the case of Android, and choose the route you want to take. Press Start
4. You will start hearing voice navigation.

Live Traffic Information
There is also live traffic information available for cities in Sri Lanka within the app.
Search nereby places – Grocery Shops, Petrol Sheds, Restaurants
The app also allows you to use Google’s local search to find places to eat, drink, and shop around you in many places in Sri Lanka.
Google map navigation provides GPS (Global positioning system) navigation turn-by-turn with voice guided instructions from source to the given destination by the help of mobile device’s internet connection.

Other Commercial car GPS Navigation systems in Sri Lanka
Other GPS voice navigations popular in Sri Lanka include Sala ProSat, TNav, Dialog SATNAV, GPS Lanka Navigator and CityGuide GPS. However now you do not need to pay for any of the commercial products, because Google Maps is free. However you need intenet data connection to your mobile-phone while driving to use this facility.
