Visaksha Vidyalaya
Top best schools were selected based on student performance at 2012 GCE A/L Examination. Visakha Vidyalaya and Devi Balika Vidyalaya came first and second, while Royal College, Colombo and Rathnawali Balika, Gampaha came third in the Bio Science and Physical Science streams according to the Performance Index, by Subject and School released by Examination Commissioner General W. M. N. J. Pushpakumara on 21 February 2013.
Students of the Western, Southern and Sabaragamuwa provinces, respectively, had performed best in the Bio Science, Physical Science, Commerce and Arts streams at the GCE (Advanced/ Level) examination 2012,
Education Minister Bandula Gunawardena said that they prepared the index considering the good results of school candidates who sat for the new syllabus,
