There are many psychology courses in Sri Lanka that you can follow up and become a successful person in the field of psychology and also in the society.

Learning the scientific study of the human mind and its functions is called Psychology. After completing a Psychology degree you can become a psychologist, a counselor, Case Manager, Rehabilitation Specialist or a Psychiatric Technician.


Psychologists study the processes, motives, reactions and nature of the human mind. They apply understanding of people and their behavior to help solve human problems. While psychiatrists are medically qualified specialists who give treatment to the mentally sick, psychologist is not qualified to prescribe medication. As far as psychotherapy (without drug prescription involvement) is concerned, a clinical psychologist and a psychiatrist when properly trained are equally competent.

Clinical psychologists use their knowledge when working with people who have health problems or severe learning difficulties

Counseling psychologists deal with milder problems unlike clinical psychologists who deal with people with serious emotional and personal problems. Counseling is the skill of helping normal people, While Social psychologists seek to understand the nature and causes of individual behaviour in social situations.


Counselor or a career development professional, advises, coaches, provides information to, and supports people who are planning, seeking and managing their life/work direction.  They help clients of all ages to select education and training programs, balance work and other life roles, navigate career transitions and stag and to solve people’s personal matters.
