Free Microsoft 365 for Sri Lankan University students with eduID

If you are a staff member or student in a government University then you can get free access to Microsoft 365 by obtaining EduID offered to you by Learn network.

What is eduID?

If you are a student in a Sri Lankan university which is under Learn network, then you can get this lifelong Identity to access many educational services around the world.

LEARN eduID is to provide students/(staff) lifelong learning, research, and collaboration with a number of research institutions and companies. eduID is easier because you only have to remember one username and password to access many services around the world. It is also safer for the Universities because it is connected to a real individual.

Soon after your eduID is activated (in 48 hours), you will be able to access Microsoft Office 365 educational package which includes online office packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc). MS Teams will help you to collaborate with each other; you can have group video meetings.

What do you need to get your eduID?

To register for an eduID, one should have the following essential
requirements
•Valid student/ staff identity card obtained from a LEARN member
institute
•National Identity Card (NIC)
•Personal email address – will be verified
•Personal mobile number – will be verified

Microsoft 365 with EduID – What do you get?

Soon after your eduID is activated, you will be able to access
Microsoft Office 365 educational (A 1 package), which includes online office apps ( MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, OneDrive, etc

For staff members, the ‘ category of the package will be provided and for student members the ‘ category of the package will be provided

This package also contains

• OneDrive capacity 5 TB
• Outlook mailbox capacity 50 GB
• Outlook maximum attachment size (without OneDrive) 33 MB
• Teams specs
• Can use either the web app or Desktop app
• Meeting time limit 24 hours
• Maximum number of participants per meeting 300
• Maximum PowerPoint File Size 2 GB
• Support cloud record
• Can stream

Microsoft Teams will help you to collaborate with each other you
can have group video meetings (like Zoom).

Do you get free access to Microsoft 365 for life time?

The Office 365 account will be discontinued after your studentship/
institute affiliation is ended.
