Update – ‘Gurugedara’ programs currently in operation will be telecast for 16 hours a day on the National Television’s Eye Channel and Nethra Channel.
Programs will be telecast 7 days a week from 4.00 am covering all grades according to specific schedules.
The program will cover Grade 3 to GCE Ordinary Level subjects and the four streams of GCE Advanced level in schools. A series of special review lessons are also expected to be covered through this program targeting the GCE Ordinary Level examination scheduled to be held in January 2021.
A special telephone number 1377 has been provided to contact the relevant teachers to discuss the problems of the children in this regard and inquiries can also be made at 0117601702, 071449131.
The Ministry of Education has launched ‘Guru Gedara’ television channel from 2oth April to offer free educational television lessons for GCE A/L and O/L students in Sinhala and Tamil Mediums.
School children can watch educational lessons from 4.00 am to 7.00pm and from 10.00 pm to 12.00 midnight.

O/L Subjects
Following Ordinary Level (O/L) students will also be scheduled to broadcast.
GCE O/L subjects – Sinhala, Tamil, English, Mathematics, Science and History
The channel has been launched with the media contribution of the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC).
The University Grants Commission (UGC), Skills Development Ministry, Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission will also participate in developing the channel and its programmes together with the Education Ministry, the Higher Education Ministry.
