Why study in Sri Lanka?

One of the remarkable features of the Sri Lankan education system is its accessibility to education for all, irrespective of social background. As a result the country has the highest literacy rate in South Asia. Degrees and qualifications from Sri Lankan higher education institutions are well recognised around the world, making Sri Lanka one of the top destinations for higher education.

Sri Lanka is also one of the most admired tourist destinations in the South Asian region for its golden beaches, endemic flora and fauna, rich cultural heritage and spectacular landscapes.

Higher Education in Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka has four types of Higher Education Institutes in Sri Lanka:

This post is mainly for Foreign students who wish to enter high rated Sri Lankan National universities,  under the initiative launched by Higher Education Ministry and University Grants Commission. In 2011, Sri Lanka opened up its universities for foreign students on a big scale.

Scholarships 

Scholarships are also offered to foreign students by Ministry of higher Education, No.18, Ward Place, Colombo, Sri Lanka. These Scholarships are offered to prospective foreign students from 48 countries for undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs at several universities in Sri Lanka.

The fields of studies for the scholarship offers include: Law, Agriculture Technology , IT, Engineering, Architecture, Applied Sciences, Management, Buddhism, Economics, Geography, Biodiversity and Conservation, Archaeology, Business Management  and several others.

Scholarship offer includes: exemption from tuition fees; monthly stipend, one time settlement allowance; medical cover for treatment at Government Hospitals etc.
