Civil Service- Sri Lanka Administrative Service (SLAS) Examination 2016

Updated 2016 January: If you have a degree from a recognized Univesrity and between 22-28 years of age then you can apply for SLAS 2016 (Open) Examinaiton. Application Closing Date is 19 February 2016. Degree should be valid on the closing date. For details check the Government Gazette of 14 January 2015 (Link below).

Civil or Public Service is one of the most prestigious jobs (career) available for Sri Lankan graduates. Graduates from a recognized University can apply for Open Competitive Examination for Recruitment to class III of the Sri Lanka Administrative Service  (SLAS). You should be between 22 to 28 years old to apply for this Open examination.

The selection for appointment to Grade III of SLAS will be made in order of merit from among those who have sat the written examination, presented themselves for the interview and scored the highest aggregate of marks.




Written Examination

Written Examination.– The Examination shall consist of the following five (05) question papers :–
(01) General Intelligence
(02) Social, Economic, Political background and trends in Sri
Lanka
(03) Global Trends
(04) Aptitude for Management
(05) Creative, analytical and communication skills
This examination will be held in Colombo in September 2014.

Interviews

Successful candidates from these examination have to face two Interviews (General and structured Interview.)

The general interview shall held to verify whether the candidate has satisfied qualifications.

A structured interview shall be conducted by an interview board appointed by the Public Service Commission to measure the management skills, leadership qualities, communication skills and personality of the candidates.

Number of persons to be appointed is 172.

The Sri Lanka Administrative Service (SLAS) is the key administrative service of the Government of Sri Lanka, with civil servants working for both in the Central Government as well as in the provincial councils.

Based on the British Civil Service the SLAS is the permanent bureaucracy that helps the elected officials on day-to-day functions of government. They are selected, appointed and promoted by the Public Service Commission.
