The University Grants Commission (UGC) yesterday (7 July 2010) released the Z-score cut off marks for the admission of 21,111 students to the university system for the 2010 academic year based on the results of the Advanced Level Examination held in 2009 August. Among students who are selected around 15,000 are those following science courses while only 5,000 are following arts courses. Another 1,500 to 2,000 students are to be admitted under special categories.
Speaking at a function held to mark the event, Higher Education Minister S.B. Dissanayake said unlike in the past, all those selected would be admitted to the universities on the same day in October.
