The Sri Lanka School of Agriculture (SOAA) of the Department of Agriculture (DOA), Sri Lanka offer two year Diploma in Agriculture program in five different locations at Kundasale in Kandy District, Palwehera at Matale District, Angunakolapallassa in Hambantota district, Vavunia in Vavunia district, and Karapincha in Rathnapura district. Annual student intake for these four institutions is about 265. This course consists of both theory and practical classes. Tuition is free to citizens of Sri Lanka.
This course prepares students to own and operate farm or agricultural enterprises, and to get employment in private or non-government organizations in agricultural sector and yo get employment in government organizations as intermediate technical officers in the agricultural sector.
To qualify for admission students must
i. Be between 17-25 years
ii. Passing G.C.E. (O/L) in six subjects at less than two setting including credit pass for Sinhala Language/ Literature or Tamil Language / Literature, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies or Agriculture as well as passing 5 subjects with 3 credits at one setting
iii. Studied in G.C.E.(A/L) in bio stream and got a pass for one subject.
iv. G.C.E. (O/L) credit pass for English is required to follow course in English medium.
For 2010 course – apply before 2010 May 31
Examination to select candidates on 2010 July 31

The academic year of 10 months starts in late March and ends in mid March in next year.
