Physical science and Engineering Degree courses in State Universities

This post is on advice for selecting Engineering and Physical Science courses at National Universities according to UGC book.

If you have done Chemistry, Combined Mathematics and Physics at GCE A/L, then you can select Engineering and Physical Science National State Universities.

Recently you can follow the following courses if you have done Combined Mathematics/ Higher Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, or ICT.

Although the newly established offer attractive courses there is less demand compared to other courses. This may be due to a lack of experienced and professionally qualified staff. Within a few years they will also turn out to be well-demanded university courses in Sri Lanka. However, if you are good at a particular area such as IT you can directly mark your preferences without marking all other courses. The risk in this approach is if you are not selected for the particular course you will lose other chances as you have not marked these in the preference list. UGC will consider your preferences according to the priority list and will give you the highest eligible course.
