Internet broadband data plans in Sri Lanka
Broadband is a form of telecommunication that allows higher data transfer rates. Broadband transfers data at least 10 times faster than standard dial-up.
Mobile and Internet service providers in Sri Lanka offer Broadband plans based on free data bundles (data provided per day, week or month). Sri Lanka has six internet service providers: Sri Lanka Telecom, Dialog, Mobitel, Etiselat, Airtel and Hutch.
The broadband data plans differ in terms of
• Type of package – Pre Paid or Post Paid
• Price for free data bundle
• Charging Frequency – Per month, week or daily
• Excess usage charge
• Additional services – voice calls, SMS and MMS
• Speed of connection
Telecom companies specify internet speed as upto 3.6 MBPS. Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) announded recentlty that fixed broadband service providers in Sri Lanka have been providing download speeds far below advertised rates at peak times. Dialog is the best it’s cheap,speed & islandwide 2g,3g conection also more wifi hotspots & colombo 4g connections
