What is the best mobile-phone service in Sri Lanka?
There are five mobile phone service providers (mobile network operators) in Sri Lanka providing mobile connections to consumers. Dialog offers a wide coverage and undisturbed service. Mobitel also have good coverage now and specially a good 3G coverage. However if you are not traveling frequently Etisalat (earlier known as TIGO) or Airtel would be good options. They offer lower call rates. Some youths opt to Hutch as they can easily obtain a connection and easily switch for a new one. Hutch also offers lower call rates but there may be some network problems at peak times.
You should also have to take a decision between Pre-paid and Post-paid packages. If you are a student it’s better to go for a Pre-paid package. Then you can use the mobile as far as you can reload it. If you go for a Post-paid package each month you should settle the monthly bill. However post paid packages offer facilities such as free call time etc,.
As a user cast your vote on best mobile-phone service in Sri Lanka. You may consider things like coverage, quality of customer care, price of package, number of free minutes, cost per minute, value added services, technology etc.

Mobitel is the bet netwok In sr lanka.No network cant compet with its 3G coverage.in jaffna I am proud to take Video calls through my mobitel to My frinds while others cant even take a voice call.
Dialog is the best mobile service provider in sri lanka. Coverage, internet, 3G coverage, best customer service. Even I don’t like to compare other networks with Dialog. dialog is amazing.
Mobitel upahara is the best.
Dialog is the best. Coverage, browsing, blackberry services, broadband. Every thing very affordable and convinient. Many pay points and excellent after sales( customer service). Also prestigious using dialog.:)

Does Airtel give an interupted service? I mean do they have enogh network capacity to serve the busy hours? I also heard prices are pretty cool.
Go to AirTel. They are giving very good value for talk, sms and internet connectivity.
Yes Kalana, with this Upahara package we all changed to Mobitel. But Mobitel singals are very poor in many places. Even we do not have proper signals at som places of University of Sri Jayewardepura.
i am a student and i use dialog since last 3 years….the service is excellent and the charges are also pretty cool….but my recommendation is that the charges could be reduced some more to reach the vision effectively….
I am using a same Dialog connection for last 8 years which is having least interuptions and the widest coverage. Last few days I was at Jaffna, proud to use my mobile at places where others could not.
Mobitel is best!
Hutch is cheap.
Dialog is maxxa.
Mobitel Upahara package is the cheapest package. It even has 3G coverage.
