Admission to Sri Lanka School of Agriculture – Diploma in Agriculture

The Sri Lanka School of Agriculture (SOAA) of the Department of Agriculture (DOA), Sri Lanka offer two year Diploma in Agriculture program in five different locations at Kundasale in Kandy District, Palwehera at Matale District, Angunakolapallassa in Hambantota district, Vavunia in Vavunia district, and Karapincha in Rathnapura district. Annual student intake for these four institutions is about 265. This course consists of both theory and practical classes. Tuition is free to citizens of Sri Lanka.

This course prepares students to own and operate farm or agricultural enterprises, and to get employment in private or non-government organizations in agricultural sector and yo get employment in government organizations as intermediate technical officers in the agricultural sector.

To qualify for admission students must
i. Be between 17-25 years
ii. Passing G.C.E. (O/L) in six subjects at less than two setting including credit pass for Sinhala Language/ Literature or Tamil Language / Literature, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies or Agriculture as well as passing 5 subjects with 3 credits at one setting
iii. Studied in G.C.E.(A/L) in bio stream and got a pass for one subject.
iv. G.C.E. (O/L) credit pass for English is required to follow course in English medium.

For 2010 course – apply before 2010 May 31
Examination to select candidates on 2010 July 31

The academic year of 10 months starts in late March and ends in mid March in next year.

    Its true, the Diploma is given with 1 pass A/L. but when you go for the job opportunities it will be very difficult to find the job, so make sure every one who are the appliers you have either 3 passes or not.but you can apply this course and study while you sit A/L and get 3 passes and go with this diploma to OUSL and u can get one year exceptionable, means from level 3 you can fellow your bachelor of science

    for everyone who looking for agriculture diploma,
    I’m a diploma holder in National Diploma in Technology.
    I’m now working with agriculture department as Agriculture Instructor.when i facing my interview i so many student who had taken diploma had not selected.because they have not passed A/L’s in 3 subjects.so if you a looking 4 government job by getting diploma in agriculture,pls make shire that you have to pass A/L in 3 subjects.although Agriculture department given diploma they don’t do it in good manner to help to children.in Advanced Technical Institute,Naiwala(i learned their)giving 3 years diploma in English medium and also in Ampara.if u don’t pass A/L u cant enroll with NDT(Agri) diploma.

    Hi Im Suthan Gnanasekaran from Pathiya palalela, im 36 years old and my dream has been cultivation throughout my life. however my carreer has been banking and now i have resigned from my employment wanting to do cultivation. will i be elgible to apply for this course??
