Quality of Universities and courses in Sri Lanka
University Grants Commission, having recognized the need for Quality Assurance (QA) in the Sri Lankan Universities, has taken steps to introduce QA mechanisms to the University sector.
It has a quality assurance system based on external peer review, building on universities’ internal review procedures.
One such Quality review method is Subject Review (SR). It evaluates the quality of education within a department of study. It is focused on the quality of the student learning experience and on student achievement. SR is designed to evaluate the quality of both undergraduate and taught postgraduate programmes.
Now prospective students, parents and interested parities can read these SR reports from the web site of the Quality Assurance and Accreditation Council of the University Grants Commission.

I am interested to sturdy medicine in Sri Lanka university. Can you please help me to provide details.Presently I am doing Advance Level at Lyceum International School.
Sarah, Students are admitted to state universities, including Medicine from Sri Lankan A/L results.
Sarah: It is not possible to get into medicine in Sri Lanka with London A/L. You will have to do Local A/L and get a damn good score in order to be selected.
Medicine abroad is very expensive…but some options r cheaper though like IMU in Malaysia (http://www.imu.edu.my/) and Monash Malaysia (http://www.med.monash.edu.my/).
You should also try Australian universities and try to get the Australian government scholarship (http://www.ausaid.gov.au/scholar/) cos medicine in Australia costs abt Rs.24 mil.
Applying and getting into medicine is a long, hard process that requires determination beyond what you will face in getting into any other course. The process can take up to a year. If you plan it, u can do a science degree first and do graduate medicine at any number of Aus and US universities. Graduate entry is becoming very common (but fyi..still costs abt the same). Remember, don’t waste time…Keep looking for information, talking to teachers, people and friends. Time is the most important factor in getting into medicine (or achieving your dreams).
Parties, hanging out, watching movies and all the other things are not important and will steal the time you should be spending in following your dreams. Invest in yourself!
