Advice for those who are looking for GCE Advanced Level (AL) courses after GCE Ordinary Level (OL) examination in Sri Lanka. New version of this for selecting 2013 Classes.
Streams of study
You have to first settle on the stream you are going to study – Science, Commerce or Arts. Science stream consists of Biological science or Physical Science. In Biological Science stream you have to follow Biology, Chemistry and Physics (or Agriculture). Physical scince stream includes Physics, Chemistry and Combined Mathematics.
Popular subjects in Commerce stream consist of Economics, Business Studies and Accounting. In Arts stream students follow various subjects: Sinhala, Logic, Political Science, Geography, Buddhist Civilization, English Literature, Japanese, History and Drama,
If you are going to follow in Science stream then most of the private tuition classes start from 2009 January.

My family currently lives in Dubai and would like to relocate to Sri Lanka. They prefer to live in Kandy.
My brother completed his IGCSE O/L (Science stream) this year and he is looking forward to do his A/L’s. I would appreciate if you can give me some pointers in regards to the schools and tuition facilities available in Kandy to continue his studies.
